Furneux Pelham school 2 Years, 1 Month ago
Can anyone help me with the name of the headmistress who would have been at the school around 1952?? I seem to remember we called her Governess, I attended the school between 1952 and 1956. If I remember rightly Governess used to take two classes at the same time, divided by a partition. I lived at Stocking Pelham, a taxi was sent every day to take me to school as I lived to far to walk.

Does anyone remember a couple who lived in Stocking Pelham by the name of 'de Vries'?
I am sure Mrs de Vries used to tutor after school

The head mistress then was Miss Annie Prior from Much Hadham and she taught in the big room which was divided when Mrs Hayes from Little Hadham who taught part time took the middle years . Mrs Glacer who lived in the school house taught infants in the small room. I and my 3 brother attended between 49-61. My Mothercan recall the De Vries as thy lived near us at East End, a Grandmother and her Grandson from Holland, and she did Tutor. I to had to have the Taxi to school,Ivan Downham from Albury . hope this helps.
