Hi Ted,have not spoken to you for a long time, sorry about that but time seems to fly bye. What I wanted to ask you is,is the Barclays farm still alive and working hard, because when I was a young evacuee I loved working on the farm with the horses and cows, also with the the men cutting the Oats,Wheat, and Barley with the old Binder,oh so happy days, also have you still got your fox hounds ?.
Best regards Alf Taylor.
P.S.and at the end of the week I would get my little brown envolope with my wages in it,NO TAX,great.
Alf.

Hi Bestmate.
Sorry for the late reply, harvest and all that. Yes we are still going but much changed since wartime but what is`nt?
We are now a purely arable farm, no cattle, sheep or pigs any more which is sad but inevitable. Even worse we now only employ 2 men on the place so the old binder would not be much help!
The main crop is wheat, with oilsead rape and ryegrass, for horsefeed and sometimes beans as breakcrops. We are also trying to do something with the woodlands, increasing the number on fields that are too small for modern machinery. I am confident that the young oaks will pay for the effort in a couple of hundred years time.
We still have the foxhounds who are being trained not to hunt foxes due to the current law and, also the horses required.
Come and have a look sometime.

Hi Ted,thanks for your reply and great to hear from you again. My btother Fred and I keep on saying that we will have to come and see Pelham again, but as you know time goes so quickly that you don't even know what day it is[or in my case at 75 I don't],having said that,Fred was 74 a couple of weeks ago,he like me is well fit, good aye, must be all that lovely grub that we had when we lived in Brent Pelham during the war.
Ted,I must apologise for keep going on about Brent Pelham but we were young kid's [8 & 9 ]and lived in the village for five years, and we loved it.
All the very best to you and your family.
Regards Alf Taylor.[ Bestmate].
