Last term the children elected the school councillors, two from each year group from year 1 to year 6, to represent them on the School Council.  This term the councillors have been busy putting their plans into action to create an eco-friendly school.  Their aim is to cut down on wasting natural resources and energy by encouraging their fellow pupils to turn off lights and stop taps dripping.  The school has recently taken delivery of a compost bin that will be used to recycle waste from the fruit and veg scheme, paper shreddings etc.

Stocking Pelham - Hassocks Print E-mail
The inaugural meeting of the Stocking Pelham sewing group (The Sew & Sews) took place on 13th February at the Yew Tree Pub, followed by a visit to the Church in Manuden to view the wonderful variety of hassocks.

Letter from the Vicar - Mar 2006 Print E-mail
  March 1st is Ash Wednesday – the beginning of Lent. And as I pondered what I was going to do for Lent, I thought about the message the church is often heard to give. It can be so negative, can’t it? “You’ve got to give up chocolate/TV/puddings for Lent.” “You mustn’t laugh in church – and certainly never wear jeans.” “Don’t drink, don’t smoke…”. And so on.

Furneux Pelham CofE School News - Feb 2006 Print E-mail
Last term finished with a Carol Service in St Mary’s Church when the KS 2 children were joined by their parents and other family members for a service of readings and music. The standard of the singing was excellent, especially the descants. Thank you to all the staff and children.
