Furneux Pelham Parish Council Meeting - Thursday 18 May 2006
Planning representatives only from both Hertfordshire County Council and East Herts District Council attended a meeting to announce that the appeal made by the Pallet Yard, Barleycroft Works against Hertfordshire County Council’s refusal to grant a Lawful Development Certificate (LDC) was allowed. In other words the Pallet Yard can continue to operate. A large group of local villagers attended and were disappointed and frustrated at the decision. People voiced again their concerns about the inordinate amount of dust and noise created by the unit and the damage the gigantic lorries were doing to the verges of the narrow lanes. Villagers were encouraged to lobby their local MP (Oliver Heald) and continue to keep logs of times and dates of environmental concerns (such as dust and noise) to be passed on to the Environmental Health Dept at the County Council. Uncle Funk The 2006 Ball held on Saturday 29 April for Furneux Pelham Cricket Club was a great success. After a champagne reception the crowd of 160 enjoyed the cuisine of Anna Shutes. After the auction and then raffle in which Harry Smart won a real mini motor bike the entertainment took off with Uncle Funk a 'tongue in cheek' band of eight taking us through the funky eighties.
