Female Blackbird
Female Blackbird
The Blackbird (Turdus merulaII) is one of the most common birds in the UK.  The males live up to their name but, confusingly, females are brown often with spots and streaks on their breasts.

The bright orange-yellow beak and eye-ring make adult male blackbirds one of the most striking garden birds. Belonging to the Thrush family it has a beautiful mellow song full of variety. (turn up your computer speakers to hear the song)
