The House Sparrow (Passer domesticus) is noisy and gregarious.These cheerful exploiters of man's rubbish and wastefulness, have even managed to colonise most of the world.This opportunist often nests under the eaves of a roof.  The Male has a slate grey crown with a black beard whilst the female is a more uniform brown.It used to be one of the commonest birds in the UK but numbers have dramatically decreased in recent years.
