| Dealing with Off-Road Vehicles |

People seem to be getting great kicks out of ruining the natural beauty of our village. Here is a link to just one of many off roaders posting videos on YouTube and another... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nssWlYDXTMk Here is some advice received from the local police. The main rule of thumb for off roaders is, when seen, to ring 0845 33 00 222 immediately so an available unit can go out to the location and speak to them. Obviously, some do have permission from landowners but we are happy to find this out when we speak to them. We would also advise people not to approach them so as to avoid an 'angry confrontation'. We would ask for vehicle descriptions and, if possible, index numbers so we can be sure we have stopped the correct vehicle. We are currently in the process of getting some signs made which we will be able to put in the areas which are having problems with off roading, letting people know vehicles can be seized if they act in an anti social matter. Regards - Buntingford Safer Neighbourhood Team Run a Campaign? Is has been suggested (not by the police) that somebody could head up a campaign to apply to the District Council Highways Department to get the Ford Un-designated as a Road or Highway - i.e. Public Footpath only!
